ABSTRACT
Coherence is the most important property of biophotons showing that this phenomenon should be treated as quantum rather than as classical. It suggests that in order to study life one should accept a holistic approach rather than a reductionistic approach, i.e., one has to see an organism as a whole rather than a mere sum of its parts. It is believed that a source of biophotons is some sort of coherent biological field shaping and guiding the development of all parts of living system, in which biophotons provide communication and synchronization of its parts.
